As your new president, I am excited about what we can do in the next 2 years. As owner of Merritt Heating and Air, Inc. in Hot Springs, and as a sitting appointee on the State Licensing Board, I feel that I am in a unique position to know the needs of the customers and contractors while having a vote to influence our future. We have a very good Licensing Board that seems receptive not only to the needs of the Association, but also the needs of the citizenry of Arkansas.
This is a great time to aim for higher respect for our vocation and to move forward with standards of professionalism. It is my intent to interact with all of our Chapters, listen to your concerns, and to bring the Licensing Board and Association together to reach our goals of professionalism and safety.
With these objectives in mind, I ask every member to work on recruiting new contractors to our Association and to encourage old members to get active again. We need everyone’s involvement because numbers really do speak!!!
A big thank you to the Fort Smith Chapter, Nancy McCool and all of our vendors/session leaders for making the 2009 convention the best ever.
